In the design world, a stylish, well-laid out website is an essential asset for building a solid brand reputation. A good interior design website should reflect the talent and ability of a company or designer in order to leave potential clients and investors with a notable impression that makes them want to learn more.
First impressions mean everything- including for interior design or architecture firms, so having a mediocre website is something to avoid at all costs as it can communicate sub-par skills. Read on to discover our top six favorite interior design websites of 2021 that create a lasting impression.
We chose VN Star Development as one of our favorite sites because of its brilliant implementation of animated scrolling features as you scroll down the page.
This site features a blue shape-shifting circle that follows your mouse as you scroll, as well as smoothly animated timelines and statistics. We also love the sleek, minimalist menu bar. Some may say that this site is unconventional, but we think it’s extremely memorable!
While VN Star Development is more of a development group than an interior design firm, we believe the same web design concepts of this site can be applied to design and develop a great website for interior designers and other companies in the AEC space.
5. Case 3D
Case 3D does an impressive job at immersing their audience with animated video footage and seamless scrolling.
As you scroll through their page, their features and case studies are listed in a beautiful, timeless fashion. We’re suckers for easy, straightforward navigation, and Case 3D takes the cake for it!
4. Project AZ
Full disclosure: we might be a bit biased toward Project AZ’s website…. because we built it. But please don’t let our shameless self promotion deter you from hearing why this interior design website is awesome and should be looked at as a great example of what your website could be.
You’ve heard the phrase “A picture speaks a thousand words”- and for experienced interior designers, having stunning photos of their work is a necessity. When we first started working with New York based designer Ahmad AbouZanat, we were immediately impressed with the caliber of his work and project photography. We decided to build a simple, elegant website that focused on images of his work. The resulting pages emulate the high end style of his Manhattan clients and are a perfect example of how to showcase great photography on your interior design website.
Powerhouse Company is on a whole other level when it comes to first impressions and introductions and has one of the most unique splash screens we’ve ever seen on a home page.
The page loads with a huge floating gallery of images with a sentence that reads “We give meaning to Space”. You can click on any of the images and be transported into the thick of their projects- or you can click the drop down menu and explore more of the page.
As a result, you are thrown into a choose-your-own adventure of interior design projects- and exploring the page becomes an entire experience- something that is sure to keep visitors engaged and bounce rates low.
Bright visuals and page flipping effects had us in awe as we scrolled through Andrey Sokruta’s website.
This digital domain is focused on the designer’s vision and style and entails a step-by-step customer guide for prospective clients, including an interior design calculator to make estimates.
Sokruta has also included full-page images of his completed work, giving his audience a better grasp on his unique and award-winning concepts.
1. Karim Rashid
Hands down, this is the pinnacle of what we would consider an interior design website to look like in 2021.
This site is distinctly categorized making it easy to navigate with bright displays and pleasing aesthetics. Celebrity designer Karim Rashid knows exactly how to market his premium luxurious style and deliver client expectations.
The vivacious, bold vibe integrated with thoroughly comprehensive content is something that we definitely want to get behind. Karim Rashid is a perfect example of how planning your website uniquely to you helps differentiate your portfolio from the rest.
Planning Your Own Interior Design Website
Keep in mind that you should strive to create a lasting first impression, but don’t go overboard with graphics and interactive media. It’s important to keep things simple yet definitive; it is crucial your website allows users to be able to navigate a page without getting too confused in the fluster of flying shapes and video loops. Minimalism definitely goes a long way. If you have great photography of your work, make sure to highlight it.
